vRealize Automation 7 – Agent Install Wizard for 7.0 thru 7.1

As Hannibal from the A-Team used to say, “I love it when a plan comes together!”

Well thanks to the work over the past few months it’s all starting to come together. First I created the installer workflows that made it easy to build out a install wizard, then I updated the combination of prepare_vra_template.ps1 scripts to support 7.0-7.1 for Windows guest, and now I’m releasing the quick and easy way to get your software components provisioned with 2 fundamental steps.

  1. Run install wizard in vRO
  2. Check the box in vRA on your blueprint

That’s all you need to do to be up and running with software components! As usual I’ve recorded and provided the video to you below. Continue reading

vRealize Automation 7 – Custom Email Notifications with the Event Broker part Duex

As promised from a few weeks ago I set out to solve the one hole I’ve found with the event broker in vRA 7. As you all know if you read vRealize Automation – Custom Email Notifications with the event broker there are lots of great ways deal with custom html notifications. The event broker exposes all of these phases to take advantage of, the issue of course is that the event broker is only part of those lifecycle phases and doesn’t tie into software components today.

Are you ready for PaaS?

Platform as a Service technology has been around for a number of years.  Recent business initiatives have created a need for a solution that can speed delivery of applications.  Pivotal Cloud Foundry has seen a growing interest as well as investments.  Ford and Microsoft were recently announced as investors.  As companies develop their DevOps strategy many of the tools have to be integrated together because they are using multiple tools.  With Pivotal Cloud Foundry many of the components are already built into the solution.  If you are looking for an example there is an article about AllState and their experience.

Change in IT is Inevitable, Part 3

Hopefully you can now appreciate why Couchbase server like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and other cloud vendors are doing so well. They have developed Salesforce integration services due to which customers don’t have to wait on IT approvals, procurement of hardware or any other IT processes that slow down requests for resources.  This is something we need to think about and start to map out what makes sense to deliver internally versa externally.
